Give a New Life to Your "Dootronic"

We invite you to bring your old, unused laptops to the conference.

  • These laptops will be reinstalled with a Linux-based operating system and loaded with 50GB to 200GB of educational content, including the entire Wikipedia offline, Khan Academy courses, copyleft books, and more.
  • At Labdoo, they use the word dootronics (as in labdoo electronics ) to refer to any computer device that can be used for education purposes. A dootronic is therefore any laptop, tablet, ebook or computer device in general that can be loaded with education software and sustainably transported to a needy school. Our current minimum hardware requirement for a donated laptop is Core2 / Dual Core CPU with at least 2 GB of RAM.
  • Dootronics within the Labdoo social network are tracked using a unique tag called the Labdoo ID. A Labdoo ID consists of a unique 9 digit number and a unique QR code. The QR code points to the dootronic URL and provides the functions of traceability and transparency, allowing donors and participants to know the status of their contributed dootronic.

Minimum Laptop Requirements

  • 2GB of RAM
  • The laptop must function well
  • Please do not forget to include the AC adapter

The drop off point will be available during the hours of the Summit near the registration. Please provide your email so you can track your new just born “dootronic.”

The Labdoo platform allows donors to track their devices as they travel the world to reach their destination schools. If you are interested in tracking your donated device, please attach a note to the laptop with your email address and don’t forget to get the first picture of the new life of this device… This initiative aims to provide educational resources to needy schools in underdeveloped regions of the world.

Thank for your generosity and support in making a difference in the lives of students around the world.

About the Dootrips

Labdoo travel

Dootrips, or Labdoo trips, are CO2-neutral transportation means used to carry dootronics (laptops, tablets, etc.) from one location to another. Examples of dootrips are trips carried out by tourists, NGO volunteers (doctors and engineers without borders, humanitarian personnel, etc.), international students, employees of international corporations, etc.

Dootrips constitute a key element within the Labdoo platform to help deliver laptops and tablets loaded with educational software to needy schools without incurring additional CO2 emissions on the planet.

(Note: Please if you have a planned trip to this locations contact us so you can be part of a Dootrip)
